8 Ways QR Codes Are Used by Businesses

2 min

It is becoming clearer and clearer that the key to growth and success in business is the management of data. With efficient data management, a company or an organization can save time and resources. One of the newer technologies that every business should become familiar with is the Quick Response Code, more commonly referred to QR Codes. A QR code can be thought of as an enhanced bar code that can contain much more data than a bar code ever could.

Applications of the QR codes can vary from marketing, tracking, inventory, and more. A QR code can be used as marketing, where a person can bring up a company website to learn more about a service or order a product for sale. It can also be used to store contact information into your scanning device, such as your smart phone. With QR codes, consumers and businesses are able to move large amounts of data instantaneously.

In the past, the amount of information or data we could provide was limited by the amount of space or time we were given for any given medium. For example, if you handed a card to a client, you had limited space to be able to tell your client as much as you could about yourself. A QR code can hold a large amount of data in the space of small stamp, allowing transfer of your profile in the palm of your hand.

If a consumer walked by a store window and did not have the time to learn about a service or a product, a quick capture of the QR code on a device could allow the consumer to bring along with them everything that they needed to know, and otherwise would not have known. A business taking inventory could also utilize QR codes by collecting data on items and storing for integration with their business processes. By allowing the faster transfer of data, and in larger quantities, businesses can use QR codes to become more efficient.
